THE IMPLANTATION OF NIHILISM AS AN AFTERMATH OF CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR POWER-PLANT EXPLOSION – A STUDY OF CHERNOBYL PRAYER: A CHRONICLE OF THE FUTURE BY SVETLANA ALEXIEVICH
Author: Manveer Kaur

Chernobyl, the name itself subsumes within it a host of memories, traumas, sufferings, anxieties and the very collapse of a culture and tradition that a population held onto very dearly. On April 26, 1986 during a simulated power outage safety test, the core of reactor no. 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded leading to a gigantic radioactive contamination that lasted for about nine days, but the release of the isotopes didn’t halt till much later. As John M. LaForge writes:
Once a thriving community of 45,000, Pripyat was the only city near Chernobyl’s
Unit 4 when the reactor exploded on April 26, 1986. It burned until October, spewing dangerous isotopes around the Earth (28).

COMPREHENSIVE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR COLLECTIVE FUTURES
Author: Anupam Vatsyayan

One face of the Janus is on the lookout for the future, and the other is learning from the past. So, if I begin my premise with a prophecy (that is more plausible than not), then, our future rests on the past learning that a lopsided development of the individual will result only in partial growth of the human society. Attainment of complete and a full growth graph of the entire globe rest altogether on a holistic individual development. Enhancement and expansion of humanity can become an achievable dream only with harmonious collaboration of experts of different fields; and experts can be born only if give an unprecedented boost to holistic personality development. Holistic does not imply being “Jack of all trades, master of none.” In fact, holistic is used for a uniform and integrated development of all the capabilities of the individual; where one aspect of personality is not compromised for the other; where all the faculties – mental, intellectual, physical, emotional, lingual, and spiritual – are polished uniformly and simultaneously so that when the individual takes up a responsibility or is assigned any task, they accomplish the task with strategy, finesse, and, expertise. All aspects of the task would be given due consideration by an individual whose own personality is holistically developed, resulting in success in particular cases and societal growth in general. Such individuals would prove to be leaders and problem solvers; and when they would collaborate, the global village would certainly progress forward. This paper would attempt to study the various aspects of holistic personality development, its factors and its branches. In addition, the emphasis would also be on the need to rigorously introduce holistic personality development at the level of higher education in India.

SPECTRAL REVELATIONS: ILLUMINATING RACE, POWER, AND IDENTITY IN RALPH ELLISON'S THE INVISIBLE MAN
Author: Avinash

This research paper immerses itself in the engrossing universe of Ralph Ellison's The Invisible Man, embarking on an enthralling investigation of race, power, and identity. The research investigates the protagonist's perplexing path, pushing societal expectations and confounding preconceptions, through the prism of critical analysis. The Invisible Man tackles power dynamics that shape his understanding of self with an indomitable spirit, establishing partnerships that leave an everlasting impression on his self-perception. This research deconstructs the protagonist's important function as a social change agent, challenging us to reinvent the fundamental fabric of societal norms. The present research discovers remarkable insights into the complicated interaction of race and identity as we negotiate the rich fabric of gender and power. This study highlights the importance of The Invisible Man in current discourses on gender and power relations by using it as a literary prism to examine the intricate interactions between race, power, and identity. In conclusion, this study highlights the significance of ongoing research into culture and literature and encourages more investigation into the complex nature of identities..

IDENTITY CRISIS IN V.S. NAIPAUL’S A HOUSE FOR MR. BISWAS, AND THE MIMIC MAN: A CRITICAL STUDY
Author: Dinesh Kumar

There is no doubt in denying the fact that the concept of identity crisis in the postcolonial writings in the central and chief concern. With the advent of globalisation in the world, immigration of people from one country to another country has gained momentum for one reason or the others. Consequently, one can witness the emergence of multicultural land with the idea of diversity present in it. Taking into consideration V.S Naipaul’s novels, A House for Mr. Biswas, one can witness the ideas of rootlessness and identity crisis emerging out of this work. The present paper also brings into light how the characters try to construct an identity by breaking the rootlessness in a colonial world. Undoubtedly, alienation and isolation are the themes that seem to filter through the minute reading of present novel. This work also reflects the fate of the indentured Indian labourers who, in search of some meanings in their lives, went to Caribbean islands. It is also an exploration of the challenges that these labourers faced and tried to overcome.

THE COALESCENCE OF TRAUMA AND CHAOS IN BHISHAM SAHNI’S WE HAVE REACHED AMRITSAR
Author: Kavita Kuplish

The Indian Independence Bill passed in the British Parliament on July 18,1947 marked the end of British rule in India and initiated the process of transition. It was an event of landmark importance as the masses had understood the real intention of the colonisers and so wanted to set their nation free from the foreign rule. Little did Indians know then that this independence would cost them dearly. The British Raj did finish but withsome serious and grave repercussions for India. The colonialists who earlier entered the Indian Subcontinent with ‘Divide and Rule’ policy, devised another plan to ‘divide and quit’, and so the transfer of power from British Colonialists to national rulershad a great political design which saw the unity of the country breaking up into two nations first and later into three. The partition of the country which was thought to solve many problems indeed brought with it more complications and raised many more questions. The immense suffering the people of India had to endure then because of triggered riots, mass casualties and a colossal wave of migration is a bloody legacy in the history of India and finds place in the writings of partition scholars. Generally, great tragedies or great historic events inspire the writers and artists to create great works of art in language and other forms of art. This tragedy of great magnitude produced a large body of literature in Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, English, Sindhi etc.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY, PEDAGOGY AND EDUCATION – THE THREE PILLARS OF CONTEMPORARY TEACHING
Author: Kritika Gupta

Teacher Educators are not looking at their class as a collective but they see them as different individuals with different modern technological needs.Technology integration is an integral component of teaching and learning . It has been widely investigated during the past several decades as teacher education programs have struggled to implement and model best teaching technology integration practices in the preparation of pre-service teachers. Initiatives led by educational organizations at the federal, state, and local levels have recognized these challenges and have, in response, allocated time, money, and effort to develop and incorporate methods to better prepare pre-service teachers to teach with modern and innovative technology. With technology, education has taken a whole new meaning that it leaves us with no doubt that our educational system has been transformed owing to the ever advancing technology. We can prepare students for their lifelong learning which requires new approaches to education that incorporate technologies in students' lives. It’s accepted that a well-rounded education is a gateway to personal success. Through education, individuals can expand their minds and embrace new ideas and opportunities, and at the same time, build better lives for themselves and their communities.

CORONA VIRUS – A CATASTROPHE OR A LEVELER?
Author: Sarabjit Kaur

Covid 19, the deadliest virus that the humankind has ever witnessed emanated from China’s Wuhan city in the fateful December of 2019. It was declared a pandemic with such a wide reach and appeared to assail its victims with an explosive magnitude that the world could not brace itself enough for the impact. From denials to the humble acceptance of the coronavirus by the governments, it soon horrified the entire world with the havoc it was capable of wreaking and long before the countries could grasp the nature of this deadly infection, they had to form strategies to tackle the lethal outbreak. Lockdowns were imposed from country to country with a view to contain its growth and to flatten the curve. Consequently, economies came to a grinding halt, low-level income groups and those living below the poverty line were the worst-hit. Shortage of the common household supplies and hoarding of the essential items further compounded the misery of the people who were trying to make sense both virus with whatever information was available about it and of the turbulent times they were living in. All were stuck and hence had to embrace what Covid had instore for them. Within a few weeks,

A VIRUS THAT TURNED EVERYTHING UPSIDE DOWN
Author: Neha

Globally, 2020 came carrying with it the most dreadful corona virus. It brought unknown fears and uncertainty of future. The Covid-19 pandemic was an unfortunate event that affected people at different scale and magnitude. It adversely affected our health, work life balance and simultaneously induced social isolation for months. The work from home lifestyle which started off as a temporary arrangement, is now a permanent or semi- permanent reality for all working professionals across the world. It is fair to state that the pandemic has not been easy for anyone and not just adults, children equally suffered due to Covid-19 pandemic. For them, a total shift to digital schooling as well as a complete cut off from their friends at school and residential complex is gravely underestimated Covid-19 has proved that irrespective of advancements we have made, it all can be negated. It is controversial whether this is a man- made virus or it had occurred due to eating habits of our dear neighbours.

MY EUREKA MOMENT
Author: Tejinder Kaur

The year 2020 has been a tricky year for all of us. The days and months dragged on in lockdown and a drab dullness filled our lives. We tried to keep ourselves busy by spending time with our families, trying new recipes to satiate our tongues but the Covid fear made the desserts lose their sweetness. The human spirit strove hard to make this world a better place to live in.
Like everyone, I also survived on the 3 Fs: Food, Fitness and Friends. Trying recipes from my favorite chefs, learning fitness techniques and talking to friends broke the lockdown monotony.
Still something was amiss. Endless hours surfing the internet led me to an Instagram post by Etsy. It was a tutorial on how to draw a Mandala art diary cover. I was instantly hooked to it and tried my hand at it. To my utter surprise and even my family's, it came out beautifully!

GRANDMOTHER'S HANDS
Author: Harshpreet Kaur

The phantom touch of my grandmother's
frail fingers,
hands weaved with my braid lingers,
a second longer with each night.
The bridge between our language seeps
the sieve of our hollow tenderness,
familial intimacy tethering us together—
translation became our myriad feather.

The severance of our colours bleed
through all my verses, her silences
foreground the atrocities—
at the hands of fair strangers who
sought the land as their own,
she carries the agony alone in her bones.

ON QUARANTINE
Author: Smily Bajaj

This pandemic has the whole world in trepidation,
Suddenly, there is halt in the progress of every operation.
With the political commotion and
Lacuna in quotidian pattern,
Unwillingly, I find myself thrown into isolation.

"On quarantine" becomes the new fashion,
And being an optimist, I turned my home into a spot of vacation.
Counted my days of hibernation,
I planned a list of little expeditions.
Without dawdling, I reignited with my passion,
Lost sight of world, engulfed in my inner emotions.
A bundle of white leafs and a pen,
Inked out each of my dotty impulsion.
Finding the riven paints in my almirah's hidden section,
Steadily, I unleashed the artist that was within.
Shuffled Shakespeare, Eliot, and Byron,
Finding idols in Bronte, Austen, and Dickinson.

your hand-written letter stares
at me from the shoebox i keep
all souvenirs of old friends in,
orange envelope crumpled in
rain the day it got delivered—
i saved it anyway; we met here,
on the internet so i grasp every
thing i can, of you, from you—
of the books you send that i
always keep one unread lest
we part ways, of the pendant
you got me which i wear only
on days i miss you— i keep you
as close as i can on most of them.

Hold your hands as if we are going to start a prayer,
Close your eyes to feel that fear.
Crunching
Crunching
The crunching is the sound when leaves fall down.
I have stolen the idea
Yes, the idea and maybe the emotion,
But it is done with full devotion.
The idea of isolation,
The emotion of misery.

“A DANCE IN THE MEADOWS” – A SONNET
Author: Harshpreet Kaur

Wordsworth's Daffodils chants on in my mind,
Trudge along brooks, gardens of Babylon,
Desdemona's Willow, and try to find—
The white of morning, chirping of fresh dawn.
We came upon meadows, shining sublime
And there you stood, swaying to wallowing winds,
Flower crowns adorned your being, in time
You asked me for a dance, and the trees chimed.
We made creatures from clouds, your laugh echoed,
The meadow bloomed with you, whites and yellows,
Dusk was upon us, your bright eyes grew tired,
Sparrows sung the song of saddest mellows.

LOCKING HANDS DURING LOCKDOWN: A SHORT STORY
Author: Anupam Vatsyayan

"O God! It's already midnight," said Abeer. Abeer was still in his office and it was the sound of grumbling which originated in his innards that made him look up and check the time on his home screen. What do doctors call it? “Yes, Borborygmi.” He was late . . . again . . . No, not late. In fact, this was his usual time, but by normal standards, it was late. “Every day it is the same story,” he thought to himself. “How can I ever change this?” His mind got racing. He knew Mira would be upset. Every single day (rather night) when he would get home, Mira would be up and about, waiting for him. She would look exhausted. “Zahin!” he thought. The thought of his baby brought a smile to his lips. The frown became less deep and the eyes softened. “In that the world's contracted thus,” Donne’s line rang true here. Naughty Zahin is their whole world. Nothing existed beyond.

HAPPINESS IS ON HOLD
Author: Sanjana Bhanot

Wait, don’t force !
The emotion you are trying to show has lost somewhere,
Hidden between the pain you bear.
From dusk to dawn working so long,
What are you going to take along?
This nine-letter word is a long journey,
But don’t forget the berney.
Corporate jobs are a tough task,
Souls are filled with double mask.
That small boy is unwillingly bold,
And happiness is still on hold.

“we are running short on both, captain!”
