ABSTRACT
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most transformative technologies of the twenty-first century, influencing numerous fields, including education, literature, and the humanities. In English literature, AI is reshaping the ways literary texts are created, analyzed, interpreted, and taught. Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini have introduced new possibilities for creative writing, literary criticism, language translation, and classroom instruction. These developments have sparked significant academic debate concerning creativity, authorship, originality, ethics, and the future of literary studies.

This paper examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence on English literature from three interrelated perspectives: literary creation, literary criticism, and literature education. It explores how AI functions as a collaborative writing assistant, a computational tool for literary analysis, and an educational resource for students and teachers. The study also discusses ethical concerns, including plagiarism, copyright, bias in AI-generated content, and the changing role of human creativity. While AI offers innovative opportunities to improve research, teaching, and literary production, it also presents challenges that require careful ethical regulation and critical engagement.

The paper adopts a qualitative research approach based on a review of scholarly books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and recent studies in artificial intelligence, digital humanities, and literary criticism. It concludes that AI should be viewed as a complementary tool rather than a replacement for human imagination, interpretation, and critical thinking. The future of English literature is likely to be shaped by collaboration between human creativity and intelligent technologies.
